Compass Staff

We're currently staffing up for the 2018 season and are looking for a few good adventurous souls.
The ideal candidate knows how to be on time, how to dress for the weather, and exactly what’s needed to totally diffuse a difficult situation with an appropriately timed joke.

The perfect Compass instructor knows just how many days he/she can wear their t-shirt without getting odd stares, and where the very best trails in the NW exist. They should be able to talk to a group of young and old and tell stories that make them cringe.

Knots, first aid, bike mechanics, riding skills, dj skills, joke skills, local outdoor knowledge, guiding experience, and rad adventure stories are also highly regarded.

Lead Camp Guide

A Lead Guide at Compass Outdoor Adventures will help lead our camp experiences for children between the ages of 10-16. With another Guide, you will be assisting our adventure programs throughout the I-90 corridor, from Seattle to the Snoqualmie Pass. Our mobile camps are comprised of a 15-seat van and a 13ft trailer, filled with bikes and games. As the lead you will be responsible for your camp, equipment, and reporting to the program manager.

Minimum Requirements:

• 21+ years of age
• Reliable vehicle
• Reliable mountain bike
• Basic mountain biking experience
• Solid communication and leadership skills
• 3-5 years of experience working with children
• Outdoor Education experience
• First Aid and CPR (Required within first two weeks of employment)
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Clean drivers license
• Ability to stay calm and perform under stressful situations
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds
• Experience in planning, organizing and problem solving.

Job Duties:

• Creating great experiences of summer camp participants
• Keeping all camp participants safe (Including guides and equipment)
• Keep Vans and Trailers stocked with necessary supplies. Ordering from shop manager
• Report to program manager
• Drive van throughout the I90 corridor. This can include dirt roads, highways, in town and in the mountains. Backing up with a trailer
• Organizing and cleaning camp equipment
• Additional duties may be assigned

Hours, Compensation and Benefits:

As a Compass Lead Camp Guide you will be on a fixed schedule for the season. Some camps may be overnight, Monday through Friday. This seasonal position will be from June 1st through to September 1st.

Facilitator and Guide

Compass is growing both in new programs as well as its existing corporate programs, we're looking for like minded, active, and adventurous folks to join the team. These roles are specifically designed to have folks join our team to support our consumer programming and help out during corporate events. As very part time positions these are a fun way to get your foot in the door to guiding and working in the outdoors with adults and families.

Minimum Requirements:

• 21+ years of age
• Reliable vehicle
• Reliable mountain bike
• Good mountain biking experience
• Solid communication skills
• Experience working with adults in the outdoors
• First Aid and CPR (Required within first two weeks of employment)
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Clean drivers license
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds
• Great organizational skills
• Previous facilitating or guiding experience preferred

Job Duties:

• Assisting in corporate programming and guided adventures
• Taking care of customers during trips, tours, and events
• Guiding trips, tours, and running events
• Supporting additional Compass programming
• Additional duties may be assigned

Hours, Compensation and Benefits:

A Compass Adventure Guide will work typically 5-20 hours a week. This position is purely based on demand and is not proving fixed hours. This seasonal position will be from June 1st through to October 1st.

Not Your Ordinary Shop Support

As Shop Employee for Compass Outdoor Adventures you will help to maintain our head quarters and office areas. Reporting directly to the Shop Manager you will assist in camp preparations, corporate events, and developing our rental business and guided trips. You will be helping to create exceptional rental experiences and helping our retail staff, guides and facilitators to accomplish their day-to-day tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

• 21+ years of age
• Reliable vehicle
• Reliable mountain bike
• Great mountain biking experience
• Solid communication skills
• Experience working with adults in the outdoors
• First Aid and CPR (Required within first two weeks of employment)
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Clean drivers license
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds
• Great organizational skills

Job Duties:

• Assisting in corporate programming and guided adventures
• Maintaining mountain bike rental fleet
• Guiding trips, tours, and running events
• Supporting additional Compass programming
• Delivering rental bikes to customers
• Disbursing equipment, gear and supplies to instructors, guides and facilitators
• Developing new programming, processes, and protocols
• Additional duties may be assigned

Hours, Compensation and Benefits:

A Compass Seasonal Shop Employee will work typically 30-40 hours a week. This position is Monday - Sunday rotating schedule. Additional shifts will be added with advanced notification.

Corporate Account Manager

As an Account Manager for Compass Outdoor Adventures you will be supporting our Corporate Events in sales and event planning. Reporting directly to the COO and CEO you will assist in event preparations, sales, and developing our account management systems. You will be helping to create exceptional rental experiences and helping our retail staff, guides and facilitators to accomplish their day-to-day tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

• 21+ years of age
• Reliable vehicle
• Reliable mountain bike
• Good mountain biking experience
• Solid communication skills
• Experience working with adults in the outdoors
• First Aid and CPR (Required within first two weeks of employment)
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Clean drivers license
• Ability to lift 30+ pounds
• Great organizational skills

Job Duties:

• Assisting in corporate programming and guided adventures
• Creating Event Itineraries
• Guiding trips, tours, and running events
• Supporting Corporate Marketing and Sales
• Selling New programs and events
• Organizing Staffing for events
• Additional duties may be assigned

Hours, Compensation and Benefits:

A Compass Account Manager will work typically 30-40 hours a week. This position is Monday - Friday rotating schedule. Additional shifts will be added with advanced notification. Compensation DOE.
